A coffin… a dirt overcoat... an earthy embrace... an exploration of the evil that dwells beneath the innocuous, the trusted and the innocent... Poisoning is a female domain. It is veiled and mysterious - hard to hold.
Kay Armstrong's new solo work, the NARROW HOUSE, is a mediation of all that is evil in the familiar. In a combination of movement and text, it explores the secret domain of the female poisoner, inspired by an account of a serial murderess in the 1950s who killed her victims (often her husbands) with cups of poisoned tea.
Working with designer Imogen Ross, Kay will create a dark, veiled world where images shift, suspend, replicate and disappear.
She cajoles… she bakes…she offers tea and sympathy…. But can we really trust those who feed us?
